RECRUITMENT

FOCUSED GROUPS ARE CLOSED.

Refugee Family Interviews

​

WHO?​

This study is open to government assisted refugees who immigrated to Canada within the page 7 years and currently live with family members

​

WHAT WILL HAPPEN? 

  • Invited participants will be asked to take part in focus group interview involving a pre-discussion survey or a Child Drawing Workshop (60 minutes)

  • The focus group interviews will be approximately 6-10 people in size and will be divided into 3 categories: mothers, fathers, adolescents (12-18 years of age)

  • The Child Drawing Workshop will be for participants aged 5-11 years and will consist of drawing pictures according to certain prompts

WHERE: 

  •  Mothers/Fathers focus groups will be held October 25th from 10:00am-12:30pm at 2225 Erin Mills Parkway Mississauga, ON L5K 1T9.

  • The Adolescent focus groups will be held virtually on November 8th @ 5:00-6:00PM.

  • Parking is free (back of the Sherwood Mall, formerly as Sheridan Center)

WHEN:

The focus groups interviews and Child Drawing Workshop will take place between October 17th-October 31st 2022. Official dates will be emailed to you after all participant availability are examined.

Counsellor & Service Provider Interviews

STUDY #2

WHO?

This study is open to counsellors and services providers with at least 2 years of experience working with the government assisted refugee population in Canada. 

 

WHAT WILL HAPPEN?

  • Invited participants will be asked to take part in a virtual focus group interview (60-90 minutes) over zoom. 

  • The focus group interviews will be approximately 6-10 people in size.

 

WHERE:

The service Provider interviews will now be held in person at 2225 Erin Mills Parkway Mississauga, ON L5K 1T9 on November 3rd from 10:00am-12:30pm

 

WHEN:

The focus group interviews will take place between October 17th-October 31st 2022. Official dates and the Zoom invitation will be emailed to you after all participant availability are examined.

  • This study is being conducted by the Family Services of Peel. Funded by the Tamarack Institute.

Potential Benefits and Risks

In addition to monetary compensation, participation in this study will give rise to meaningful collaborations across service providers to offer seamless support that fulfils the needs and preserve the dignity of newcomers and their families. Participants may feel uncomfortable with questions about their families but rest assured that participants can refuse to answer any questions or withdraw from the study at any time without penalty.
